It looks like a very interesting episode...

One question though. What's the name of the episode? unsure.gif

EDIT: Never mind... laugh.gif 1.gif

EDIT2: OK, here what I found on Stargate Solutions, because it is better to post something else besides Gateworld's words around here:

QUOTE

McKay and Sheppard participate in a SIMS-like game simulation which turns real.

Details
McKay creates a simulation woman who appears similar to Samantha Carter in a SIMS-like game against Sheppard and names her Nola. Nola and her people are citizens of Gelder, named after McKay?s ex-girlfriend. Nola has led her people to the brink of war against the rival country across the river, called Hallona, the country controlled by Sheppard. Discouraged and shaken that McKay is a mere man and not the revered ?Oracle?, Nola becomes autonomous, making decisions on her own. Unfortunately, her decisions lead both warring factions into greater conflict.

Sheppard?s country, Hallona, is less technologically advanced than Gelder, but rich in coal. One of its citizens is Baden, who refuses to trade with Geldar and won?t back down from the conditions already set in motion by McKay and Sheppard ? to him, war is inevitable.

Guest Characters
Nola - in her 30?s, has short blond hair similar to Samantha Carter?s and has a passing resemblence to her.
Baden - in his 30?s, rough-looking, dresses in medieval garb.

Production
Story by: Don Whitehead and Holly Henderson
Teleplay by: Carl Binder
Directed by: William Waring
Before Cameras: August 16-24

Please note that spoilers are subject to change as the episode is still in production.

This episode sounds pretty good at the moment. Hopefully they don't mess it up cause from the looks of it so far it could look like classic.

I don't think she will be played by AT... McKay will imagine a character similar to her. "A passing resemblence to her" doesn't seem to me like actually being her. biggrin.gif

Nope, it looks like this is going to be a game that turns out to be totally real.

I am wondering how this all works. Like are they thinking that they are holographic oracles in the game, but it turns out to be real?

Anyone else thinking that maybe the satellite network might be powered by a ZPM?

It was real enough to Teal'c, he almost died in it.

Probably but the chances that the team will get it are tiny, TPTB rarely give them a break that large.

That fact had not escaped me. I was attempting to convey that we were outside the world of virtual reality.

They only reason they would get a break that large, is if it will save them at some point where nothing else can.

If they were such control freaks, why would they suddenly stop interfering when they ascended? If anything, ascension would give them more opportunites to interfere.

Do we actually know that the ancients started their strict policy of non-interference as soon as they started to ascend? It could have been a gradual process, with mistakes being made by their interfering that had disastrous consequences. These mistakes made them realise they had no choice but to adopt a non interference policy.

This could explain why they are so harsh on individuals interfering with the lower planes of existence, because of things that have happened in the past. Like Oma and Anubis, but on a much larger scale and caused by the entire group of ascended beings.

The Ancients know what interference with non-ascended races could lead to - they could be worshipped as Gods. The Ancients don't want this because they know the power they would gain if people began to worship them. The Ancients don't want to become like the Ori and so do not interfere with non-ascended races.

Did the Ancients know of the Ori before they ascended though, I know they originally came from the same galaxy, but that was millions of years ago. I am sure a lot of information was lost over this time, and even if they did remember, were the ori ascended when they left?

The knew about the Ori before they ascended. The Ori wanted to wipe the Ancients out so information like that isn't going to get lost over time. The Ori know that the only way they can now defeat the Ancients is if they force millions of Humans to worship them to increase their power.

would u say... that ppl worship the ancients..

i mean we've seen in season one... the athosians praying to the "ancestors"...

but for earth/ jaffa etc... it doesnt seem to be "praying" we just recognise that they exist, and were good??

would the ammount of devosion give extra power?? does devotion caused by fear/coersion, give less power than devosion, given b respect??

Admiration and requesting for guidance is very different from willing to surrender their free will to them.

As for the fear factor, I dont think it would matter as long as they surrender their free will to them.

People, if you've watched the episode, than you should be using the Episode Discussion thread for this episode, not this one... This one is for the ones that haven't seen it yet, and want to speculate on spoilers.
