It was very telling how Jack was thinking about Sarah when he was almost gone... He still loves her, but because he feels so responsible for the death of their son he's unable to be with her.

I do agree this is the one that made Sam and Jack a little closer then they are aloud. blink.gif If Jack had not said Saras name she might had said something she would had regreated sick.gif .Then maybe that is what Jack whated her to beleave. Even if he is dieing he will not confess that he loves her. That Zatart thing he was forced to say I care for her more then I am suppost too. Jack said I love you crying.gif behind that wall, and only Sam saw it, and even she forgot she saw him say it. w00t.gif All in all this one was a must.

Yes it's true I did love this episode but doesn't it make you wonder just how lucky Sam and Jack were to have landed in Antarctica during the summer when the barren ice land is accessable?? I mean come on, it's public knowledge that there are only certain times of the year that you can actually get access to McMurdo and any of the other stations. But I won't spoil it any further for you. I did love it even tho it was a tiny bit unrealistic whistling.gif

i think this is a geneuin episode which most stargate fans like cause it was a little surprise to see that there were 2 stargates on earth and when i think of this episode it always makes me think of how talented richard dean anderson and amanda tapping are its great cin those 2 together and actually excepting each other as team members and sams dedication wow she is one strong character.

What makes you wonder though is how did the second gate suddenly decide to activate, and why just 2 of them transported there

They didn't know the gate was busy, otherwise they would have gone to Abydos or someplace I guess.

But here's a question (kick in the teeth at least) for you shippers out there: is it really a turn on when a guy is lying in the arms of girl #1 and is moaning and crying out girl #2's name??

ROTFL... seriously, laughed my head off....

Then why do shippers think this the be-all-to-end-all moment between Jack and Sam? I'm not criticising, someone please help me understand.

Well that's assuming the guy is completely compus mentus, as against being barely conscious as Jack was at the time.

And the reason they kept trying to dial the gate in the SGC was because they didn't realise that they were already on Earth.

But in terms of the be all and end all moment, I personally don't think that this is the case. While this was definitely an episode that brought Sam and Jack closer, as being stranded anywhere with one person for several days would, there are other more recent episodes that show that there is more than just a professional relationship between them. In the last two week's (US) episodes there have been scenes where Sam and Jack have shown more than strictly professional feelings. This was in season one and they were still really defining characters and relationships, and this helped define that.

But that said, it was a good episode. wink.gif

I never suggested it was a turn on - same as for a woman calling out another man's name would not be a turn on for a guy. All I was saying was that he was barely lucid and was likely hallucinating.

Here's a thought, given more time would Carter have left him there like he wanted? I know she did sorta, but came back, but would she have stayed and died in his arms???

i think sghe would of stayed but not because of the spark that they have but because a good soldier never leaves a man behind so i guess she'd disobey his orders and go by her own instinct. biggrin.gif
and 2 be honest i dont think sams that kind of person to leave anyone behind cause look at that episode when we first meet cassandra she refused to leave her behind.

A different womans point of view dry.gif I liked this one too, like I said before. My husband called me his X-wife before, I did not care I was married to him now, not her. When your sick, or hurt in Jacks case, your not in your right mine. sick.gif . The reason the gate jumbed from one gate to another, was a power surge, to much power coming though the gate with a stafe wepon. w00t.gif

A staff weapon? Are you sure? Is that all it took to do this??? Perhaps we should shoot the gate more then, who knows who else on Earth has a gate....

I don't think it was a staff weapon. It was some fairly intensive high powered energy weapons that were too far away from the Stargate to identify the actual source. So for all we know it could have been a bunch of Stormtroopers with those tripod mounted heavy lasers! Or perhaps a bunch of dudes in red (or gold if you're a TNG fan) shirts? laugh.gif

Now you don't see it all that clearly, but it definitely looked like several shots hit the gate as they were passing through. So it was not a single shot from a staff weapon - at least it's not made to look that way anyway.

And I think that once Carter saw that there was nothing up there above the crevasse, she fully intended to come back and die with O'Neill. There really wasn't anywhere for her to go. She had no idea what planet she was on. And it was freezing cold. Even though she'd live for a good deal longer than O'Neill would, she definitely has a "Leave nobody behind" mentality.

And I also think that at this point there really wasn't anything between Carter and O'Neill. Perhaps the makings of something in the future, but nothing at this point. So that wouldn't be the reason she would have stayed.

The energy the gate absorbed caused a powersurge which resulted in the gate jumping to the next closest functioning gate. I guess if we didn't have the beta gate they would have popped up at Abydos.

The guy was drugged and seeing things...nothing he said mattered
