Season 2, Episode 5 - Need
Original Air Date: July 24, 1998

While exploring planet P3R-636, the SG-1 team comes across a troop of Jaffa warriors and ceremonial priests delivering naquadah, an element treasured by the Goa'uld, through the Stargate. What catches Daniel Jackson's eye, however, is the beautiful Princess Shyla, the melancholy daughter of the planet's ruler.

Another example of the Daniel bad luck with women and Goa'uld curse. Everyone he gets involved with, the Goa'uld are involved with. And he never gets to stick with 1 girl. You'd think that Daniel is a Goa'uld interest indicator. If the Goa'uld take him prisoner, they should release him into slave populations and take as hosts any girl he hooks up with. His pick always seems to match the criteria for Goa'uld host so it would be easy to let him be the host picker.

But another non-favourite episode of mine, just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, not sure why.

But then Sam would be taken as a Goa'uld host and Daniel would die (again).

Funny how when he got evil Daniel actually grew a backbone and argued back at Jack, saying that he never got any respect. In Daniel's view, he was suddenly the one with the power, and it was interesting to see in a Jekyl and Hyde sort of way.

My favorite part was at the end when the two of them were in the storage room, and Daniel realised that he was THISCLOSE to killing his best friend because he was so out of it. That Michael Shanks guy is a pretty darn good actor...yep....

He did do a good job on this one. His "no respect" thing must have stuck because he did eventually quit the show.

I like evil Danny too so long as its clear that he's gonna get nice again by the end of the episode!

I liked him in that fetching little green silk number too. And did he do something with his hair? A little mousse or gel or was it just a result of several blow dries in the sarcophegus (sorry bout spelling)

Well ya know, if you're going to be ruling a planet it's a given one would want to get tarted up a bit...another side effect of the sarcophogus, no doubt. Add it to the fact that he no longer needed glasses.

I felt so bad for him, and for Jack. The line that Jack had about 'having seen it before'... poor Daniel's addiction was a little more high tech, but that's what it was and I almost cried...
