Go Sam! wub.gif Back to the episode now, yes it was good. I think the best part was when the Tok'ra appeared out of the sand. It was so cool, and Dune-ish. I liked Frank Herbert's Dune (2000 i think) that was a made for TV miniseries. The moment they popped out of the sand I knew that they would be cool rebel fighters. Only rebels and terrorists do that kinda sand thing, and it is by far the coolest thing the Tok'ra have ever done.

Another top episode in my opinion. It gave some insight into other Goa'uld race (rather than System Lords I mean). There must be a whole colony of mums and dads of snakes somewhere afterall.

"We are not Goa'uld... don't call us that!", if looks could kill, the only thing that ever came close was Sam in The Entity tongue.gif

i think amanda tapping done well with this acting out all that emotian and just genrally putting sams character in order its not everyday we see the emotianal side to sam because shes a tough military woman and she wants to show she can do this job just aswell as one of the men so this episode was certainly a golden one. biggrin.gif

"Tough military woman"? Really? Is that how we see her? I always thought she needed to act a little more like an Air Force Captain/Major. Seems to often question things, add her two cents worth (like I should talk..) and otherwise be a little less than the ideal military person.

But given her father, well, what can I say - ha ha haaa.....

yeah she is a tough military woman look she hides everything inside because she doesnt want ppl to see her emotianal side so she tries to act tough but she genrally is a person with a lot of troubled feelings and does have a sad side to her but i do think shes tough.

But she's supposed to be a scientist - they always question lots of things. I guess that's why she is the way she is. But on the other hand, O'Neill does look for input from the rest of the team and Daniel is always chiming in with his civilian opinion, so it wouldn't be fair to Carter if she didn't have the chance for input. But you will notice that usually once O'Neill makes something an order she pretty much just says "Yes, Sir" while Daniel will continue to question things. So she does pretty well from that perspective.

What does a real US Military person do in this case? Keep saying "with all due respect Sirs you're wrong"? I think not.

In my experience, limited as that may be, you offer the best advice to your CO that you can. If they're a good CO, they will take that advice into consideration. But once they make their decision, you follow orders.

As a soldier you're not trained to be dumb. If you see something that you know something about you pass that up the chain of command. Obviously this is different from a standard military command as it involves civilians and is not always on a battlefield, but JO is still the commanding officer, and the buck stops with him. SC understands that, and acts accordingly.

How did a Tok'ra turn into a spy? I thought they were all born from the same queen, making them all start off with the same memories and personalities. How then could 1 stray to the path of the Goa'uld?

If a new guy suddenly appears I'm sure the Tok'ra would notice. I also doubt that you can torture a Tok'ra into becoming a spy. As we saw in the episode "Deadman's Switch" the Tok'ra would rather die than betray his people.

sam give us the image of a perfect military who respect the superiors and the rules, giving her idea went is necessary and rarely her opinions. i thing she should be more tought, like daniel. but i cant see her in the role of a colonel or a general, like jack and hammond. seeing sam giving orders... strange! alien.gif online2long.gif laugh.gif

I can see Sam taking command at some point, but we don't want that because it would mean that she'd get an SG team of her own to command and not be with SG1 anymore. Or it would be when Jack retires or something else happens to him and she would take command of SG1 # would anyone be up for that? They did it on "Star Trek: Voyager". And hey, what was the plan when Jack went off to become a Tok'ra in "Abyss" (606)? Was he supposed to be coming back or was SG1 short a person?. I didn't see 601-605, so I don't know if they built up to that or not.

Anyway, I love this episode # it's great to see Sam get to explore her feelings # I love that she is usually so business-like and is never a sissy # I really hate shows that portray women as helpless fools # Sam is always prepared, ready for whatever the team is off to do. And you guys are right # she makes her point to Jack if she sees a problem or has a suggestion, but ultimately follows orders when he makes a decision.

I was glad they cleared up some issues from "In the Line of Duty" # I always wondered why Jolinar never let Sam speak for herself or couldn't let her know that she wasn't trying to take her over like a Goa'uld. Sam tells Martouf that she was fighting Jolinar the whole time # that's why she couldn't understand (until the end when Jolinar saved her life) and that would explain why they didn't really blend. Oh, and "Tok'ra 2" explains why Sam was feeling sad after Jolinar died # she had some sense of blending at the end and felt the grief of loss (I guess # based on what Jacob was told he would feel about Selmak's host dying).

If I didn't want Sam to end up with Jack, I would have really liked to see the Martouf relationship explored # he was really cool. I hate how they killed him off. Has his symbiote reappeared in Season 6?

Oh, I like the Tok'ra's sand camouflage, too. Way cool.
