Season 3, Episode 6 - Point of View
Original Air Date: July 30, 1999

The SGC is taken aback when an alternate reality version of Samantha Carter and the deceased Major Kawalsky are found in top secret Area 51. To transport themselves to our reality, they used the quantum mirror (last seen in season one's There But For The Grace of God).

in the firsyt episode children of the gods, kwalski(jay avecone) really craked me up for the whole episode but jay is a great actor and the script writers could really write brilliant scripts which invlve him coming back but not sam there is only room for one sam in this world and thats our major sam carter. rolleyes.gif

This ep. is one of my favourites, it has all the emotions contained in a single 40 minute show, and it was really good seeing Major Kawalski again.....

Great episode that one

Well it was a good episode. There were many light moments, like when O'Neill asks Kawalsky whether or not his Special Ops training in his reality covered silence, and there were poignant moments, as when O'Neill finds out that in the other reality he was married to Dr. Carter.

I did think the line interesting that was almost at the end of the episode when O'Neill says, "So that does beg the question. How could you marry a loser like me?". I'm sure that many people agree with that point!! laugh.gif

Obviously this episode was more science fiction than many Stargate episodes - the whole alternate reality thing. But I think that it played out well. But there were some questions raised:

- If O'Neill could have stayed in that reality and been not only united with his best friend, Kawalsky, but also married to Carter, why did he not do so? Is it because he felt his own reality was more important? Or for some other reason?

- In the episode it is revealed that the Asgard have healing technology equivalent to the sarcophagus - they healed AR Hammond after he had been shot twice with a Zat. So why haven't we seen this before or since? You think that it would have come up again as a plot point? And if they healed AR Hammond, why couldn't they heal AR O'Neill - after all it was AR Carter that went and got them.

- (Obviously answered in later episodes) What is with all the looks SC keeps giving O'Neill - the strange expression when Kawalsky says that he couldn't leave his best friend's wife to go on her own. When she sees AR Carter kissing O'Neill goodbye at the end of the episode. I mean they spent so long working up to Divide and Conquer, and then all of a sudden let it go completely for season 5, and only fleeting moments in season 6. Was something planned that they never actually put in the show?

Still. Certainly one of the best season 3 episodes, IMNSHO anyway! ohmy.gif laugh.gif

He felt he should stay in his world. Besides, our Carter is hotter. Better hair. But if I were in his place I'd likely choose Sam over SG-1.

To tell the truth I liked the long hair that the AR Carter had in There but for the Grace of God better than the long hair AAR Carter had in Point of View. I'm not sure exactly what the difference was, I think she had it done differently more than anything else, but it wasn't exactly the same.

I LOVE that tune that plays when Jack in talking to Samantha in her room. It must have been hard on her losing her husband then coming into another world and he's alive. I loved the scene when Kawalsky is telling Jack, that Sam and Him look good together. Aww biggrin.gif

I can't believe that nobody has asked this question yet?
If they had the AR Mirror then why didn't they go looking for an AR that the Asgard Kicked the hell out of the Goa'uld and given us the technology to do it. Then we could have brought that back to the Recognized Reality that is SGC. And kicked ass over the bad guys for good. That would be the best use for that AR Mirror. If Jack and Sam can marry in one universe then with the limitless possiblities of multiple dimension they only have to find the right one to get what they need from someone that will give it to them to win the war.
The Mirror would have been a far greater device than the Stargate is. All they had to do was conceptualize the possibility.

Sam is hot with or without long hair. meow.

I think that the effort required to implement your suggestion is incomprehnsible. We will have to travel to every AR we can travel to, establish contact with aliens in that AR, and then try to negotiate an exchange of weapons. As proven in this episode, there are sooooooo many ARs that some vary very slightly and other vary greatly. We'll have to find an AR that has aliens who are advanced enough to win a battle with the Goa'uld AND that is willing to share their technology with less advanced nations.

How are those chances better than the chances we're taking by traveling across our own stargate network? In fact, I see the chances of us finding that on our system is much higher than that of the mirror.

Yeah. Sam and Jack. Sam and Jack. Sam and Jack... Why would you come to this episode discussion to complain about 'shippers? Think about it! This is one of those times when it's alright to talk about it all the time. That's what the episode is about. The only real purpose it serves is to go into the relationship, without actually going into the relationship, so they can talk about it as a reality (pardon the pun) with out one of them leaving the military. For myself, I think it was a great episode. There could have been more Daniel, but what can you do... he did get that nifty 'resetting the mirror' bit, so it's alright.

I loved this episode! I thought real Sam looked kinda jealous at the end when she saw Jack kissing AR Sam. And I thought it was funny that the two Sams didn't really get along at first...I think that would be true in real life. If I met myself, I probably wouldn't get along with me right away. I get along great with most everyone, but for some reason, I almost think that I'd see myself as a "threat" so to speak. lol

This was a great episode. One of the last scenes of the episode, where Sam was looking through the portal at alt Sam and Jack kissing (and seeing her facial expression) was brilliant, and the song that played made it a scene to remember.

This one episode that i can watch over and over without getting bored. Personelly for the people who do not want sam and jack together. It is more realistic that they do as in real life you do get feelings for people who you spend a large amount of time in close quarters with.

I would love to see another alternate reality apisode perhaps uaing some other type of inter dimentional technology where sam is romantically involved with some one else othter than jack and see hwo he reacts to that world!

i personally think it should see sam and daniel together, in there reality perhaps they decided long ago that they should grow together as more than just friends.
