Machello is a pretty crazy scientist. We should plant some of those reading devices on Anubis' many motherships in his fleet. That would be fun.

I always thought that Michael Shanks was a good actor but this episode really gave him a chance to shine (If you'll forgive the Jack Nicholson pun!)

The other members of the team managed to convey their feelings of horror and helplessness too. It was a wonderful episode, not my favorite of all time but still up high.

it was sorta a weird ep, but i liked it. i agree that daniel's acting was brilliant, and he really got a chance to show off for once. so are there more of machello's inventions out there somewhere? it'd be interesting to see what else he came up w/ (even though they inevitably seem to lead to sg1 getting in trouble)

Great premis.

He comes from episode 218 "Holiday" from season 2, one of the funnies episodes in my opinion.

I felt bad for Daniel when he was in the hospital and was really going crazy. I felt bad for the other 3, too, when they were visiting him. It's really hard to see your friend or family member like that.

MS was excellent in this episode. I didnt realise how good an actor he was until i saw this, i thought he was really realistic, and so were the others in their reactions to him.

What would have made the episode, "holiday" even better, was if Sam was in Jacks body and Jack was in Sams body. It would have been much funnier that way. I could just imagine Jack saying something like, "i think i'll go take a shower!" laugh.gif

I have this ep on tape, and i watch when in Stargate Withdrawel(ie:middle of the week. sick.gif ) MS was really good, but I always wondered why Jack and Janet just keeled over and didn't SEE anything. And who the heck was that other scientist? I've never seen him before!

I think they are referring to the page-turner thingies. They were never brought up again. I don't think they would use them, though. Same reason we don't use chemical warfare...too hard to keep the damage contained. What happens if normal humans get infested? Or Tok-ra?

Well normal humans go insane like Daniel did in the episode and a Tok'ra is physically the same as a Goa'uld so it dies.

This episode was well written. I did feel though that General Hammond and Doc Fraiser were just a little to hasty to tar and feather the Stargate program epecially considering what great lengths General Hammond went to in order to keep it alive in the episode "Politics"

well actually i think it was hte fact that it was a medical obstacle which he can have no control over- i mean if it harms travellers no amount of debating is gonna change the fact, but in politics the episode it was just that he was fighting- alot easier to make an creditable argument against! rolleyes.gif

I agree there were good performances from the actors, especially Michael Shanks. Nice touch with the mannerisms and gestures. I always liked the story and explanation for how the Machello bugs work. I sorta figured it out once Carter mentioned she did not feel the affects that it was the protein marker that triggered the bugs death. Always cool to see the solution before the characters on screen do hehe. ahh the blessings of compressed time in tv shows.

Btw, if any of you are going to watch this episode in the near future you can see a blooper I saw. It was at the very beginning with the shot just before the intro kicks in shows. Its of a dead lembrus and it has a flashlight moving across the body from the background while the body is pointed from the foreground to the camera. Focus on the dead bodies eyes and you will see what I assume is an involuntary flinch from the actor who is playing the dead lembrus. I suppose its the cause of the flashlight... or if not.......it means......

Daneil was right......they are alive... blink.gif
