From a report in Variety: The Sci Fi Channel has given a fifth-season renewal to "Stargate Atlantis," commissioning 20 fresh episodes. " 'Atlantis' truly came out from under the shadow of its sister series this year and proved that it's a hit in its own right," said Sci Fi's Mark Stern, exec veep of original programming. | MGM Greenlights Two New Stargate SG-1 Movies |
MGM announced today the extension of the hit Stargate SG-1 franchise with two new movies based on the popular series. Titled Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, the movies will both be made available to the television universe and home entertainment marketplace by MGM. The announcement was made by Charles Cohen, Senior Executive Vice President of MGM. We previously reported rumors that these new films would be coming. | Sci Fi Delays Stargate Until April |
According to TV Guide, the Sci Fi Channel has delayed the second half of the current seasons of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis until April 2007. Previously, the shows had been scheduled to return in March, but that was already a delay from the usual January debut. Other countries will have completed their run of the current season before viewers in the United States see the mid-season return of the show. | |  |

MGM has acquired the worldwide rights to A Dog's Breakfast, an original dark comedy shot by members of the cast and crew of Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 while on a production hiatus earlier this year. The film, which will be distributed for television and home video, marks the directorial debut for actor David Hewlett, who stars as Dr. Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis.
