Why would the Ancients design a machine like that? Sorry if that sounds really sort of dumb!

yeah they never really explained how did the ancients get so powerful [and awsome]
And another thing that creeps me out about nirity is that she like osiris is a male gou'ald in a female host [it kinda makes me think of a guy in drag] because if i was a male gou'ald i would not want a female host |

The symbiotes are asexual (they are neither male or female). They are only referred to as he/she because of the sex of the host they take. With Nirrti, I think it was a mistake on the part of the writers when they scripted it so that Nirrti was male. Up to that point we had not seen Nirrti so they chances are they changed her sex in 'Fair Game'. Look at Selmak. Selmak was in a female host in 'The Tok'Ra' (Saroosh) and then took Jacob as a host.
