well this is just a guess but in egyptian mythos, ra is said to have the ability to appear & disapear at will do you think this indicates that ra could have had the cloaking tech long before nirti created the first prototype phase-shift device, he was the 'Suprem System Lord' which indicates he would have the resources or maybe he stole the tech as goa'uld do.

Well in egyptian mythos Ra was the Sun God and full control of light. that's why he could become invisible.
As for the tech.......who knows.... |

Well Ra is also generally represented as being in his chariot going across the sky, so I would assume that it would be his ship that would have the ability to cloak and not him literally. Granted, Nir'ti was the first to make the Personal Cloaking device, however, I would assume that cloaking something like a ship would have been around for much longer (this is evident since the Tok'ra had access to a cloaking Tel'tac in a mere few episodes after "Fair Game" and when we consider that Tok'ra technology is usually outdated it is extremely unlikely that the Tok'ra would have acquired the cloak after Nir'ti's cloak was first exposed). So Ra, technologically, probably wasn't that advanced; as even in the movie (if you can consider this a fair comparison) he appeared to be nowhere nearly as advanced as the Go'uld we see in SG1. |

The appearing and dissappearing thing could also have been him using the ring transporters as to anyone not understanding how they work it would essentially be the same thing. Therefore the potential conflicts in the timeline wouldn't exist. However, you are assuming a lot. After all, there are lots and lots of things like this in mythology but you can't really go around nitpicking the show for not using them or doing something similar that is not quite the same... I don't think that would really be fair to the writers |
