It is very fun. I remember when i got out of the hospital in June of 2006. I was bored, and couldn't go work. All I had was the internet and telelvision.. One day I came here to get info about sg1. I made a post, and haven't been able to stop since. Well it's as addicting as a seriously addicting drug!!! |

Fine... I'm still on it at the moment as it happens, only now I have a little more access to teh interwebs than I've had for the last couple of months... No interweb available whilest sailing the seven seas? Or in your case, inspecting logistics eqipment... Wouldn't you guys have a satellite to play with, or at least to use for the interweb? |

yeah we have satellite communications - but 1 pc for internet use is normally shared between 30+ people (the most senior officers and client reps all have their own personal machines in their cabins, but the rest of us plebes have to share...), and that PC has had it's available bandwidth nobbled in favor of the captains machine, so up till recently it was enough of a chore to just check your own personal email - web surfing simply took too damn long...
(besides, to be honest, it's nice to have a break from going online for a while when I'm at sea...) but anyway... I've managed to purloin regular access to a faster machine in one of the offices in the last few days, so as long as I keep my mouth shut, I can go online when I wish... |
