Stargate Solutions has a brief description of the mid season finale for season 5.

"Dr. Daniel Jackson comes to do research into the history of the Atlantian Ancient Janus who built a timeship in a puddle jumper 10,000 years ago. During his visit, a new enemy in the galaxy gets revealed."

Another new enemy?

Maybe TPTB are compensating for the severe lack of character development by trying to make sure we never get bored with everything else.

Atlantis is going to get too cluttered IMO. The team have the Wraith to deal with, Michael's creations are going to be pretty important, there are still some Asurans out there, the Travellers are still around and now TPTB intend to introduce a new enemy.
Are TPTB intending to kill off one or two races? Given the virus infecting Pegasus, I don't see the Wraith being around for long.

Killing off the Wraith seems a bit extreme. They have shaped and controlled the Pegasus Galaxy that much it would be strange to see them go.

I agree that introducing another new enemy is a bit strange. I just can't see that many groups of people would be able to hide from the wraith all that effectively without being 'Travelers'.

Personally they could do away with the Wraith and I would be fine with it. I have never liked them as an enemy from day one. They don't scare or intimidate me at all. They are extremely cliche and ridiculous to watch. The only Wraith that were interesting at all are Todd and Michael. I agree with you I see Michael and his hybrids playing a huge part in season 5. If they do kill off the Wraith, then Todd may not be around for very long.

A new enemy is a bit much though. I don't need to see more special effects, blowing up of things, new enemies. What I want is a story development mainly with the cast, with them actually doing character growth and development.

The Wraith have become increasingly less of a threat though. Michael is removing their sources of food and Atlantis has the capabilities of taking out their ships with little effort. I don't see the Wraith staying a major threat much past season 5.

i consider micheal and the wraith to be 1 in the same (just like the gould). but i think they have to stay in the show otherwise it undermines us being in the galaxy because we will have out thought the ancients (should never have happened). i dont consider the travellers a threat to atlantis, and the genii arent much of an enemy anymore. i think the series needs something to give it a kick again.

although a new enemy that allies itself with the wraith would be good.

Michael and the Wraith are not the same. We've seen Michael's hands and he does not have the same ability to feed.
What does it matter if the Wraith are defeated? Humans have shown themselves to be far more capable than the Ancients. Like Indy said, the only interesting Wraith is Todd, the rest are pretty much the same in terms of character.

It seems that, like the Asgard, for most of the Ancients, the answer to problems was more advanced technology. So far we seem to be having a better track record with their enemies than they had.

Given what we did to Adria's power base, she has probably been defeated and exiled somewhere by now.

Well without some kind of explanation from the writers, we only have what went before with Oma and Anubis to decide what happened. Personally,

Could take place after Continuim... maybe he wants to learn more about the guy who opened the time travel box... if he's lucky he might even get to hit Janus over the head for opening such a huge can of worms...

Though IIRC this isn't a time travel episode, so maybe Danny boy doing research is nothing more than pretext to get Daniel to Atlantis so he can be a part of whatever is going down.

it'd be nice to see janus back on atlantis he's one of my favourite small part characters ever on stargate
but it would be nice if the research actually yeilds some results for a change!

no doubt the episode is going to go a little bit like this -

-atlantis/or a ship that daniel is on get overrun by the enemy
-daniel is the only 1 left who can do anything
-daniel saves the day

same as the teal'c episode really.

i doubt that it'll probably be more along the lines of avalon where daniel's looking up info on the ancients stumbles across something that he thinks will help us technologically but accidentaly ends up making us a new really powerful enemy!

So you are basing Daniel's appearance in Atlantis solely on the episode that Teal'c appeared in? How exactly did you come to such a ridiculous conclusion as that?

yea my point exactly i mean daniel although he can kick ass when he needs too isn't in anywhere near the same league as teal'c
so why would they put him in a similar situation when there's no way he could handle it?

God forbid me for saying this, as i am sure there are many of you who don't even like to see them mentioned. But how about the Furlings be the new enemy??? it would explain alot why the alliance in the milkyway galaxy does not seem to exist anymore and may explain a thing or two about the furling haha...

as much as i would like to see the furlings i doubt that we ever will.tptb have said they have no intention of ever showing them and as much as i'd like to see that change i doubt that it'll happen.to be honest i think they don't show them so that everytime a new technollogically advanced race comes into the picture everyone will think "oh could this finally be the furlings" to create a bit of hype about the episode.
