I am curious how you feel about Dr. Elizabeth Weir. I miss her terribly but I want to see how others feel.

Originally I did note care much for her character. But I found that after seasons 2 and 3 I liked her because she developed. Yes I do want her back but it needs to be done right.

Well, Weir was a great character. They have developed her character in the past years a lot, and the bonds with the Atlantis team have settled quite well. Yes, Carter is a great replacement, but we'll have to wait for a few years as well, to see how she forms bonds with the Atlantis team.

But, they have reached a point of no return. They have evolved the story in such a way that they can't bring Weir back no matter what. So given these circumstances, no, I don't want Weir back. I want them to use Carter more and help her "grow" as a character of Atlantis as well. 1.gif

No. She wasn't all that good in season 1, got a lot stronger in season 2 but TPTB ruined her character again in season 3. She came across as a lot weaker when dealing with the Asurans. I honestly can't see her returning after TPTB made her a recurring character.

i've always like the atlantis version of weir (i didn't like the weir from sg1)she has a certain something
which i can't put into words that just made her right as the leader of atlantis now i know that no matter what
happens she'll never be the leader again but i'd like to see her as a permanent character again maybe as an
assuran expert on the base

Would I want her back, yes. Would I want her back as a full time regular, no. I feel her place has moved on, the show has changed to where it's at. Bringing her back in would seem like a step backwards imo. But I want to see her again, I like her character and I do hope that it turns out she is alive, and would see her in a few episodes in the future. I reckon it could be a good arc if done well. But Carter is the leader of Atlantis now, that should stay but yes I want to see her character again. I like her, and will look forward to any appearances she does give.

I still have hope for Weir but I was hoping for more discussion from you guys and more votes I have this same poll on other forums and they are beating you I am surprised. I miss Weir a great deal and it feels like something is missing. I have stated on other threads that I don't like how they have Sam because it is not the Sam I knew and liked on SG-1. Some of my favorite eps of Atlantis were the ones where Weir was a major part of the ep. Echos, Tao of Rodney those are off the top of my head.

That is actually too bad that another forum is beating us, I say. But the activity on this forum has been lacking lately. It can't be helped. People either post or not (And that was such a philosophical phrase on my behalf). Perhaps we have have less posts, but I think that we also have less spam. I have seen posts on other forums that look worse than a messenger line. biggrin.gif

I also think that Weir made some good episodes as the head of Atlantis, but there have been only a few episodes with Sam, and most of them without her ( whistling.gif ), because she was rather busy. There is a lot of time to build up her character as the leader of Atlantis. 1.gif

Also, take note that there is another thread about this same idea (only that it's not a poll). Most of the discussion took place there. The only thing that will probably take place here more than there is voting. wink.gif

I voted no for the very same reasons that Daf has said and I have posted those reasons on numerous threads for Atlantis.

Weir was a huge joke during season 1. She was much better in the two-parter that she did for SG1. She was strong and decisive.

During Season 2, she became a little more independent in her thinking and a much stronger leader.

During season 3, as I have said, she was regressed to a wimp once again. She was all about trying to negotiate with the Asurans and the Wraith. Sorry with these two you cannot negotiate. Since TPTB had done that, I knew that was their way of writing her off.

Now for during season 4,

I'm fine with Sam as the new leader. If or when AT can be on all the shows, we won't know all that she is capable of. This last episode during season 4,

So Sam needs to stay and grow as the new leader of Atlantis.

Well I would love to see weir back... she was what made atlantis the it was, she realy shone in season two.

I still find it weird see sam there... It seems like she is a COMPLETLEY different person now... maybe its just the hair..... but atlantis just doesnt suit her, I love sam and all but not on atlantis, bring weir back... I think she made the show....

I never liked Weir, she never seemed to put her foot down when giving orders to Atlantis personnel, she'd speak up whenever someone outside Atlantis did or wanted to do something that didn't fly with her or Sheppard but she had authority but she never used it like Sam has this season, but I'm glad she's gone, whether she's really dead or not, I'm glad the actress playing doesnt want to come back at all because she just has a icky vibe everytime shes on screen, I don't like her.

No. That would be so bad for the storyline after 11 episode of the 4 season.
