Ok, I have no idea what a 1.4 rating means. What's a good vs bad rating? 1.4 isn't that great, it means about 1.9 million people watched it. They used to get about 2.0 average which would be about 2.7 million. It's low for other networks but quite normal for Sci fi I guess being on cable. It's the system Neilson the ratings people use in other words. |

I'm glad they're keeping their faith in the SG franchise. I just hope they let the show develop on its own and dont rely too much on "absorbing" SG characters and stuff into it now that SG-1 is retired. They keep killing off supporting and even main characters so readily recently that I'm worried they may try to "make some room" for other Earthside characters.
Carter I didnt like but I can take, I didnt even like RJA in Elizabeth's dream world, but if they have Daniel coming back in a recurring role and bring in Teal'c as a regular cast member etc then I think they're shackling the show. Even if it was just Walter or Siler, I think its a bit of a copout and a stunt. |

but if they have Daniel coming back in a recurring role and bring in Teal'c as a regular cast member etc then I think they're shackling the show. I doubt they will. Michael and Chris have a pilot coming up called 'Rage of Angels' and if it is picked up by a network, they will have their own series to film. |

Yes Stargate Atlantis has been bought for a 5th season. How many shows make a season? 22 was the standard, but everything has changed. You have Scifi breaking a season in half for what more money. Everything started when Beverly Hills 90210 went year round. We never had new show, just reruns durring summer. When Beverly Hills 90210 started putting new episodes against network reruns they changed everything. Funny how the influence of the show is still around, but none of the Actor's carreers are.

No, not more money. If anything holding back Stargate cost them money because fewer fans tuned in when it returned after a 6 month break. They held it back because they believed Galactica could draw more viewers. |

This may be a completely moot point, but what impact (If any) does the WGA strike have on S5 of SG:A? Are Atlantis/Smallville/BSG/etc written by non-WGA members? |

They're based in Vancouver but the show is American.
According to the Sci-Fi forums, BSG is passed the midway mark in filming but looks like it will be held up. The same may be said of Lost, season 4 could be delayed for a few months. |

I read that Lost has already set up 14 out of the 16 scripts for Season four, though that is just speculation. |

I think it will also effect 24 since it won't begin until January as well as Lost.
I'm not too sure how far in advance they have written shows, but most of the network shows only show first run episodes until the week of Thanksgiving here. Then they show re-runs until after the first of the year. They don't usually run new episodes at that time due to the holidays. Holiday shows are run instead, or re-runs. |

Well apparently there is speculation that because of the strike Heroes second season could be cut in half http://www.syfyportal.com/news424386.html. Most of the writers of Stargate though I think are Canadian too but I cannot confirm, either way nothing has been mentioned anywhere of the strike affecting stargate (Inc. Joe Mallozzi's blog) so I think it will be ok. It's just the other shows that could be affected. |

Peter Deluise might be the only writer born in the US, but that doesn't mean they aren't in the union. If the show is funded by Scifi and MGM, it is likely that they the writers had to join the union.

If the show is funded by Scifi and MGM, it is likely that they the writers had to join the union. But they work in a different country, it's like if a show was funded by America but filmed in and written by British writers would they fall under the guild rights? I don't think so, and no word has been said anywhere, any stargate news site or JM's blog about the strike affecting the show. I think stargate will get out clean with this one. Also I don't believe PDL writes for the show anymore anyway, I don't even know if he directs on it anymore. |

All i know of PDLs involvement with SG now is that he's got a couple of cameo scenes in the 'Ark of Truth' anything more than that.... no clue

I really like your idea dr lee. Having an SG-1/Atlantis crossover would be wonderful! Of course to do it right, they should bring together as many of the cast members on each side as possible...like making sure they include SG-1 members like Daniel since he has not yet appeared on any Atlantis episode...

He said he would be interested as long as his character wasn't killed off.

No. He said he would appear as Daniel in Atlantis as long as TPTB don't kill him off.
QUOTE(Stargate Solutions) Michael mentioned that Joe Mallozzi had called him to ask if he is interested in appearing as Daniel in “one or two” episodes of Atlantis Season 5. Michael is interested as long as Daniel isn’t killed off. |
