Did anyone else find it odd that Carter referred to Jack as 'Colonel O'Neill' instead of 'General O'Neill'?? I understand that he wasn't a General when he had his encounter with the crystalline entity but I assumed she would have referred to him in his present rank. I also got a kick out of Sheppard, when hearing that he was the bad guy in the dreams, says 'Cool... Did I have a goatee??' That cracked me up.

Well... referring to him in his present rank would have been correct, and referring to him in his past rank would have also been correct, even better than the first choice, because Carter would detail to the "audience" the rank and experience of O'Neill at that time. |

Did Carter say something that was, in effect, "General O'Neill, who was a Colonel at the time, was possessed by so-and-so..."?? |

Yeah, she did the same thing in 200 as well if you watch that "It's like the time Colonel O'neill was invisible". I think Marv was right about why it makes sense. Did Carter say something that was, in effect, "General O'Neill, who was a Colonel at the time, was possessed by so-and-so..."?? No she didn't, it was just a straight "Colonel Oneill once touched a crystal like this" or whatever the line was. This post has been edited by Invisible Painting: Oct 28th 2007, 10:36 AM |

In military etiquette, is it appropriate to refer to someone in the past as their rank at the time?
I think in 200 she says "then Colonel O'Neill"... maybe... Note: I could be completely wrong and having a brain fart. |

Where do i start ...well even though the Sheppard and Teyla hug was cool only because i'm a shipper of the two i though it was sweet as well . Teyla dying in Dr. Keller's dream was cool . Still don't uinderstand why Teyla's still don't think people trust her . But Evil Shep got me thinking about what he told Teyla .
About even being right after the Wraith Queen showdown . It reminded me of Scott telling Jean about her powers growing out of control in x2 . about never being right after the first movie . Humm could be a hint to something far greater in the Season 5 for Teyla . But I'm just spinning straw hopefully into gold one day . I love kate , but i feel it the writers caught the 24 bug , and their on a killing spree , which is so not cool . |

Looks to me that this was the clue who the father will be down the road. |

I quite enjoyed this episode. The only two things I felt could have been left out were the lifeform being crystalline and the fight Sheppard had with his doppelganger. Granted, they referred to the episode in SG-1 but TPTB could have been a bit more original. The same goes for Sheppard's fight, fighting one's double has been done too often in science fiction and could have been left out.
I really wasn't expecting Heightmeyer to die but even though she was a minor character, it was unexpected. The CG with the whale eating McKay was pretty good. Was it meant to be one of the whales McKay has encountered in Atlantis or was it meant to be Moby Dick? |

Moby Dick was a sperm whale, this one looked like a blue whale with teeth or something... |

Still Mckay refered to them as Whales, I don't think Mckay would have made that big a distinction to not imagine them eating him given they look the same. |

Once Mckay researched them, he pointed out that they weren't actually whales, and I think his character has proven that he would have made a disctinction. I agree with Daf about the whole cystaline being thing, because too close. On a side note, I've always found the type of whale Moby Dick was to be hilarious, given his name. |

Which might explain why he was pretty fond of the whales even if he's terrified of real oens! |

They look crazy looking Sperm Whales I mean , unless it's flipper or Willy i wouldn't want it coming up to me . A i.e. refer to the ep. "Echoes " and Grace Under Pressure " But some one said that Rodney didn't seem to be afraid of the "Whales" in Grace Under Pressure maybe he was in shock from almost drowning and being crushed to notice he was dreaming of Sam .

RCC did both of those jobs for Doppleganger. And the clowns face was too wide to be his. Half expect PDL to do a cameo like that |

It would make sense... no point in hiring somebody to play that part.

It would make sense... no point in hiring somebody to play that part. Well it's a non speaking role, they would only get 'extras' salary. It wouldn't be that much, it's cheaper getting a member of the production crew, but whoever it was I don't think would be able to live it down |
