I found this and I thought it was very funny. Keep in mind that I loved the original BSG also.

I feel slightly sad that I wasted two and a half minutes of my life watching that.

I feel slightly sad that I wasted two and a half minutes of my life watching that. You do realize that your statement almost shows your lack of an appreciation for the original? I thought the video was pretty good when I first saw it about a month ago. Does a good job of pointing out the differences between the two shows, while at the same time paying homage to the original in an uplifting and commedic way. |

I don't think I saw that one. Is it still around? Yes both shows are definitely different, LOL! Here's a link to the 'Stargate Cantina' fanvid. Right Here! This post has been edited by Space_butterfly: Feb 1st 2007, 11:27 AM |

Yes, because I lack appreciation for the original. I am aware it was a different time, I just don't like that series. |

Yes, because I lack appreciation for the original. I am aware it was a different time, I just don't like that series. So what, I never watched the original but it was still quite funny. It was looking at the old one in an entertaining way for those who saw it and those who didn't. But as I knew roughly what it was like it was a good thing to see, I don't think appreciating the original is necessery for enjoying it. We need to start using the work frack. That was a pretty fracking good video. It really does annoy me some of the stupid swear words sci fi comes up with lol, it's like that's the only thing about the english language that's evolved over 5000 years. |

Actually, I'm pretty sure that was the shows creators who came up with "frak" so they could use the word and have the show still be aired on a general channel. Unless you were talking about the genre scifi ... |

We need to start using the work frack. That was a pretty fracking good video. If it hasn't already, I firmly believe that word will be in the new dictionary, LOL! Edit: Space Butterfly, that was priceless, LOL! I especially loved the, scum and villainy, with Kinsey and Maybourne. This post has been edited by IndyJan: Feb 3rd 2007, 4:35 AM |

At which point I would respond by burning all the dictionaries I do like the show (albeit a bit less then I used to) but frak is the one thing I've always hated about it This post has been edited by Invisible Painting: Feb 3rd 2007, 4:54 AM |

I agree. I liked Farscape's made up words. And not because of the words, but because of the way they were used. They didn't just say the words to say them, it really seemed to flow in normal conversation. Then I watched BSG.... it was almost annoying when they used frack because it just didn't mesh with a normal conversation. It was like they were trying to put far too much emphasis on the words rather than the conversation they were having.

If they say frak once, they say it at least 20 times per show. It loses it's meaning after that. I firmly believe that TPTB of BSG wanted to be able to swear and get it past the censors, so they came up with a totally different word. So far it flies, but if it makes it into the dictionary, with an inappropriate meaning, like I said, it may get banned, LOL! |
