Information provided to this site (and also posted in a report at TVshowsonDVD.com) reveals that the Season Two DVD set of Stargate Atlantis for region 1 (USA/Canada) will be released on March 6, 2007.

The news is backed up by retail sources. We will provide artwork and ordering details when they become available.

Sweet!

I see that Gary Jones and DeLuise are still doing commentary together, which is nice. In one of the commentaries DeLuise said something about not doing them with Gary anymore, which was a bummer. Good to see that didn't happen!

3 months is rough though, think this had anything to do with the late start of the second part of this current season?

Yes I remember how they discussed how they got soooo off topic. Don't they tend to narrate episodes where nothing happens?

Long time reader and surfer of the sg1archive site, first time poster. I was just wondering about the Stargate series being put onto HD-DVD. I've heard rumors that SGA Season 1 was supposed to be coming to HD-DVD. I was wondering when this was going to happen and if there were any ideas as to whether or not Season 2 would follow soon after. Anyone got a line on any of this info?

There has been no announcement. However, MGM, Sony (partial owner of MGM) and Fox (the company currently releasing MGM titles to disc) all support Blu-Ray and not HD-DVD. So expect any release to be on Blu-Ray.

You're right. Thanks for setting me straight Arcady. I was reading a couple of different articles and I got my tv series and formats mixed up. It's Battlestar Galactica that's coming to HD-DVD. I have not heard which format is going to get SG-1 or Atlantis, but if your logic holds true, then it will most likely be Blu-ray as you say.

I would also like to add that I have DirecTV HD service. With that, I get the Universal HD channel and I think the one thing that I find interesting with that is they show television shows and movies in HD that Universal has some of the rights to. They are actually showing episodes of Serenity, Battlestar Galactica AND Stargate Atlantis. Three of my all time favorite shows in HD. I wasn't aware that Universal had any rights to SGA.

But, I guess seeing that BSG and Atlantis were on the same station, I may be getting my hopes up that they would be in the same format, HD-DVD. Looks like I may end up having to run out and get a Blu-ray player or Sony PS3 if SGA and SG-1 do go to Blu-ray. biggrin.gif

Ummm...guess there's no edit button or I didn't see it. Found this and just thought I'd post it. You can see at the bottom of the list that it has SGA Season 1 as pending, but no date has been announced as you said, Arcady.

The DVD menu is much better for these DVD's... I remember how horrible it was for S1... but its much nicer now. laugh.gif
