I went to my first NHL game last night, courtesy of some season tickets that weren't being used. Here is what I learned:
  • Vancouver's goalie is huge...heck, compared to the Devils, they looked like they belonged on an NFL field, not NHL.
  • Players fall on their asses too.
  • All those guys skate really fast, even the refs, who...
  • ...have excellent jumping skills to avoid a puck.
  • The Canadian National Anthem is lame. There's not a single reference to blowing sh*t up (or bombs bursting in mid-air)
  • Being 16 rows up from the rink on the players' side at center ice is the best seat in the house.
  • A live game kicks the sh*t out of a broadcast any day of the week.
  • I will have to do this again. I'm hooked.

It really is intoxicating, isnt it? Unfortunately here in Toronto, tickets go for about $80 if you sit way up in the nosebleeds, and well over $150 for where you are talking. Oh, that's EACH. and they're usually sold out hours after they go on sale ...

and as a fellow ref it's not all about knowing how to jump. It's all about being in the right position. If you know where you're supposed to be, you can usually avoid having a puck shot at you. Key being USUALLY.

and is it really that bad if our anthem doesn't talk about blowing sh*t up? I prefer it this way 1.gif

The hockey world champs take place in Riga this year and I didn't get tickets to a single game! dry.gif First of all the prices were pretty high and even though I could've afforded to buy at least something the locally available tickets to all the games (!!!) were sold in some 3-4 hours...

Oh well, there's at least that special hockey feeling all around the city that I'll be able to enjoy!

aawwww unsure.gif you guys are so lucky,you can go and watch an NHL game live,i have to wait every wednesday and watch it at 1:00am.

I've seen 4 live games all TAMPA BAY WOOO let's go lightning. Last game i saw was 1st of Novemeber this season against Toronto,it was an awsome game. I saw Matts Sundin biggrin.gif.

Lightning are playing tonight against the Panthers,come on lightning.
