I dont know actually, i doubt its the one from fire and water cuz this ep focuses on the Jaffa from 5000 yrs ago. Perhaps this Babylon is the place where these guys have been hangin out with this Ancient tech? who knows.

I think Babylon is a reference to the babylonyan civilization, so yes, it's the Babylon from "Fire and Water" but the authors didn't do their homeworks if it's the case:

I'm betting it has more to do with an implied reference to the Babylonians from the Bible. They built the Tower of Babel to get closer to God. God didn't like it, so he destroyed the tower. The Ancient tech could be the tower metaphor and The Orii could be coming to crush them for insolently using the "God" technology. The Orii are, after all, demanding that people worship them...

Tower of Babel was not directly destoryed by god he gave humankind the the ability speaking different laguages so noone understood each other and the tower eventaly fell down because of bad planning becuse eveyone was doing there own thing. or thats is what i leant at priamary school |

Babylon is considered to be synonymous with "exile" because the Jews were captured and forced to live there as slaves which would be a parallel to the Jaffas in exile. Also, it's been said that every false religion started in Babylon which would draw another parallel to the Free Jaffa Nation's false worship of the Ori Priors.
But this sounds like a fun episode. Lots of off world stuff, fighting, male bonding and new character interaction. |

QUOTE oh man it so kicks ass!! I personally am disappointed its really a sword too, I thought they could be cool and use it as a metaphore to describe a sword looking like ship called excalibur or something...dammit, maybe its really a key or a control system for the real Excalibur ship? I like the concept of Excalibur beeing a key. I heard there is a legend stating that Excalibur is the key to enter the island of Avalon. The legend kind of involved passing into the dimension of the faeries from Glastonbury Tor. I guess it could mean that the wielder of Excalibur will be transported to Avalon if he is the Chosen (ancient gene). |

Sorry for the double post, too late to edit. The last one was not supposed to be in this thread, I really don't know how that happened. Any moderator, feel free to delete it if it's possible. Sorry again.

If this ep. does make reference to Fire and Water then perhaps then these specific Jaffa helped Omuroka (sp?) start the Rebellion in Babylon. Then, to ensure the rebellion suceeded they left Earth and ended up where they will be in this ep.
This ep. definitely sounds like it will be an exciting one; just what the doctor ordered. |

But you would think Producers and Writers would have noticed this. |

Yeah you almost cannot see the cammo guy in the new block cammie outfit. Nice one. The green ones would have been better than the black one. Unless it was a night off world tour they were doing and the cammo guys came during the day to help extract them.
How did I miss this thread. Geeeze. My heart just sailed when I saw those pics. Good old off world adventures again and it made me realize just how much I miss AT. Sorry Vala. This post has been edited by Auntie Em!: Aug 5th 2005, 3:25 PM |

But the Air Force does issue regular camoflage utilities, so why SG-1 never wears them is anyone's guess. |
