I received this email today, which says that they have ended Stargate SG-1 in Finland after only five seasons:
QUOTE Finnish tv-station MTV3 has decided to stop showing the award winning scifi-show Stargate SG-1 after 5 years. Last episode (which was the 5th season's last episode) was seen in the finnish tv (channel MTV3) at 17th of November 2004. MTV3 has treated our favourite show very poorly for the entire 5 years, too long breaks between seasons, no information when it's going to continue and when the show finally aired it was been pushed to near midnight (around 23.30 or 22.30) on tuesdays or wednesdays. When the last episode (5x22 - Revelations) was shown here in Finland, there wasn't any message after that episode which would inform us about the show ending, no "will be continued" or "show ends", MTV3 didn't inform at their website either anything about the show ending. We had to read it from a gossip/tv-magazine with a small print saying "MTV3 isn't going to buy anymore episodes of Stargate SG-1". I was shocked and so were all the fans. I've promoted my? online-petition for saving Stargate SG-1 in Finland. I've gathered over 3300 names to that petition and I've sent it via original mail and e-mail to MTV3 (including foreign programs purchaser Sami Rahnasto who is responsible of buying/getting Stargate SG-1 into finnish tv!) I've also had it delivered personally to MTV3, but they haven't given us any kind of answer. Which is another proof that MTV3 doesn't care about scifi-shows or the fans of scifi-shows. MTV3 has another tv-channel called "SubTV" which is showing the same 5th season from Stargate SG-1 which we JUST SAW! after that the show is gone from Finland. So that's why I've created this site --> http://pelastakaa-stargate.net , to support the show: e-mail MTV3, sign the petition, send postcard to MTV3, spread the word! Please help us save the show!?! |

Wow, this even makes Channel 7 in Australia look good. I really feel sorry for the Finns.
Where are they up to on DVD releases over there though? |

Hi Trays,
on the site there's a small flag of Great Britain. Just hit it and then the site's completely in English and you can see the links. I'll vote now too |

Ouch.
We had more or less the same thing, the channel wasn't going to buy the show after season 6... After - apparently - endless nagging that ended up with about half the Israeli Sf&F community petitioning for bringing the show back, we got season 7&8 & Atlantis... so keep on trying, Finnish people! |

I've signed the petition (number 3410)
I wish them every success wth it. It would be awful to not be able to watch past the end of season 5. You's never know that Daniel Jackson came back....Assuming you didn't get the DVDs. Even Channel 4 here shows the seasons-eventually. This post has been edited by scjon: Apr 12th 2005, 3:16 PM |

As a Finn, this really breaks my heart. MTV3 has treated all sci-fi shows like crap and shifted them around so that no one knows when they will air and for how long. I understand that air time is precious in Finnish television since we only have so few channels and there's so many shows to air, but come on! It's just.not.fair.

If it's any help people and I no it is probably breaking the rules using this but if networks continue to cut services like this then were have r rights gone!!!!!!
I think this is going to happen in every corner of the world if were not careful that?s if bush and Blair have there way (new world order) does that ring any bells for any of you, if all this goes through we will not even be allow to talk in the streets never mind talk against the state. Sad state of affairs people I hope the administrators allow this if not please just give me a slap on the back of the hand and I promise I will not do it again. For all u guys in Finland download a bittorrent client like bitcomet (goggle search for bitcomet not forgetting to read the help page) install the program then google search for isohunt and search for stargate follow instructions and download what ever episodes u what. don?t forget to buy the DVDs when the come out, only by these sales can the production company continue to produce new seasons, (I must insist on that) but come on people if you can?t watch a series of ur choice in your own country because the TV companies have a big monopoly and will not pay the bucks then what else can u do. My heart goes out to u all in Finland. If anyone needs help with the bittorrent thing please feel free to email me: mastersamwise@btinternet.com:-" I hope this helps, I will try and post this on main page but I think I?m pushing my luck, if I do get kicked out I wish all us stargate lovers the very best and please remember don't let it happen beware of the NEW WORLD ORDER |

Basil didn't you start another thread like this and it was closed. I believe you were told it was not allowed here. Why do it again in here after that?
EDIT: Looking at your post history you did this one first and posted the same damn thing in the thread you started that was closed. We frown on duplicate posts even if they are in separate threads. It takes space and wastes our time reading the same thing twice. This post has been edited by Auntie Em!: Sep 7th 2005, 8:01 PM |
