Ashes 06-07 Options

I know it is still 6 weeks away but I am rather excited by the next Ashes series. Australia must perform better and if they do, We will win the series there can be no doubt. The England team is depleted and I dont think they can muster another heroic challenge to the Aussies.

I think the only reason England won last Ashes series was because every single man in the team did their job... & gave 110% in the times when they needed it & their star players like Flintoff were able to give even that little bit more, whilst the Aussies were pretty much a one man team after the 1st test.
All of England had been hyped up for that Ashes series, & the players fed off that, & they lifted when it came to cruch time. The Aussies never really played well the whole series starting with the awful One Day performances, even though Australia played (IMO) at around 65%, they still didn't just lie down & die. The series was still alive until the lunch on the final day.
This time around, post 05 Ashes, things have changed alot, England have alot of injuries to speak off & have fallen away abit, whilst the Aussies have grown stronger with the successful introduction of some new players such as Mike Hussey & Brad Hodge.
I believe that Australia will not be only wanting the Ashes back, but also wanting revenge for their 2005 Ashes defeat. IMO they will easily overpower the Poms this time around on Aussie soil, due to the fact that in recent times not alot of teams have beaten Australia in Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth & these are the first three test venues on the cards.

Thats my two cents.

I think the Aussies are a bit cocky going into the world cup. Symonds is injuried which will take a massive chunk out of the middle order. Also there are not specialist spinnners in the team. Which may be mistake if teams like india play the part time spinners well.

Very true, Symonds out will be a hue blow for the Aussie's now, but I think Australia losing the other night in the first final was the slap in the face they needed, & should improve in tonight's 2nd final.

This is Australia's group in the world cup, so I believe that they still will be able to warm up abit before they meet any serious opposition.

I must say, well done to the poms, I didn't think they had it in them to win. Although I find that it is one thing they have to move away from. The rain can't save them all the time.

Espcially good for Brad Haddin, who will get a decent hit-out before he goes to the world cup.

yeh thats the word going around. Deserves his position not just because his a keeper. His batting been pretty awesome in the state game so his good cover as a batsman as well if need be.

I heard Michael Clarke might be in doubt for the first One dayer in nz. Phil Jaques been listed as cover for him.

Just got an email from someone I know from Ch 9.

hi the nine network has the rights to the world cup as well as fox sports
the nine network will be picking up the coverage from the 27 of mach until the final
witch means the only matches fox sports will be doing live and exclusive is the 1st 3 group games Australia vs Scotland Australia vs Netherlands and Australia vs South Africa
the rest of the Australia games plus selected other matches will be on 9

Therefore I don't think its going to be a great loss just missing out on the group games.

Same here, I was considering getting Austar just for the World Cup, through their no lock-in contract, but I don't mind missing out on the first few games.

we've had 5 losses on the trot now.

we couldn't defend 336 against the kiwis. its not looking to good, hopefully we can turn it around. lost our #1 in the world ranking for one dayers to with that loss last night.

It's amazing to see Australia lose their No.1 ranking so quickly, only after losing 5 matches in a row. Even after whipping pretty much every team in the Champions Trophy not too long ago, & in the past few years.

lol yeh its always the fine print.

yeh there were like 4 for 47 or something i think. makes it even worse losing from there, most teams would collapse on a big chase being at that. Kiwis are on a high at the moment, confidence through the roof for them. they a big chance at the world cup.

we be a better team when we get ricky ponting back, better captain then hussey, sometimes its the little things that make a team good.
