The initial post said "Its really gone downhill since Rodenberry passed away"
Erm...wasn't wonderful while he was still alive, using the third season and STTMP as examples. Sure, first & second seasons had the vast majority of the eps that made Star Trek great, but third season had two great eps: "The Enterprise Incident" with Joanne Linville (Larry's wife) and "Day of the Dove" with Michael Ansara (Barbara Eden's hubby). Except for those two, most of S3 blew chunks. And take Star Trek the Motion Sickness (oops, Picture)... it's Nomad transformed into V'ger. Same idea: Earth probe meets aliens, gets transformed and heads back to Earth to find its creator. (FYI: refering to the ep "The Changeling," in case y'all don't know.) Roddenberry couldn't even find an original idea for the first new Trek there had been in 15 years. Now, on the other hand, Rick Berman? He's just Satan. |

I was just responding to that initial question, not whatever the parody was. I was hoping for a serious ST discussion As for opinion, a great majority of Trekkers will agree: Season 3 of the ORIGINAL Trek mostly sucked. As did STTMP. But y'all are on that parody, which is obviously STTNG, so I ain't interested |

The best fan parodies I've ever seen done are German re-dubs of several TNG episodes. They called their mini-series Sinnlos im Weltraum ("Pointless in Space"). Funny as hell, I was watching them for weeks.
Some quotes have become real classics among the people I've watched the episodes with. So let me conclude this post with one of the favourite mottos of Captain Picard, "Shut up, or I'll show you how a hand can become a fist." This post has been edited by ted_simple: Jun 18th 2005, 3:01 PM |

To all of you startrek fans out there
"James Doohan, the beloved actor who portrayed engineer "Montgomery Scott" in the original Star Trek and seven movies, passed away at his home in Redmond, Washington this morning. He was 85. Doohan died in his sleep at 5:30 a.m. local time with his wife of 28 years, Wende, at his side. Cause of death was pneumonia, complicated by Alzheimer's disease, according to Doohan's Los Angeles agent and longtime friend Steve Stevens. Memorial arrangements are pending, but according to Stevens, the family will fulfill Doohan's wish to have his remains shot into space on a "Memorial Spaceflight" provided by Space Services Inc. of Houston. Similarly, a portion of Gene Roddenberry's ashes were sent on such a flight in 1997. The date of cremation and the spaceflight are not yet known. " |

Oh, you'd have to be a REAL trekie to figure this one out. It's almost as complex as the matrix! Heres how it goes. The red and blue are two totally defferent plots (that is, until enterprise
Khans universe Data's Universe Our Universe Combination of u1 and u2 1. 1990's a genetic engineer creates a race of genetically engineered mutants that take over 1/4 of the world. 2.A war ensues and they escape into space. 3. One of them named "Khan Noonien Singh" and his followers are found by the enterprise (khan ends up marrying a starfleet person) 4. They are banished to ceti alpha 5, but end up dying after they take over the USS Reliant and attack Kirk to take revenge after Khan's wife dies. 5. Data is built (along with several other androids) by a man called Dr. Noonien Soong on Omicron Theta, a science colony. 6. We later find out in a dream episode, that data was modled after his creator, so Brent Spiner gueststared as data's creator. Yes, they look the same. Gene Roddenberry had an old friend whos name apparently sounded like Noonien Soong. Hense, two characters with similar names. We learn in the end of the episode that Arik Sighn gives up on planning a perfect race through genetics, and begins thinking up robotic lifeforms. "it may take a generation or two" so heres what we know... >datas creator was the decendant of the creator of the genetically engineered beings > data looks the same as Arik Soogn becuase data was modeled after the decendant of the guy you saw in enterprise. They were not the same person. ____________________________________________________________________ Hope that helped a little. The only way you'll completely get it is if you watched bolth serieses. Belive me, if you think you understand now, you dont. There more coincedences in the show that have been explained by that one line than you could ever imagine! |

Heres how it goes. The man you saw in enterprise created the augments. Then, he was imprisoned, and somehow had a son/daughter before that. Then, 200 years later, his great great great great grandson created data.
