Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series - Amanda Tapping.

See all of the nominees at Cinescape. The 30th Annual Saturn Awards will be held May 5.

I am curious about the judging criteria for the categories. MS is nominated for best actor but AT is only considered for best supporting actress? When did MS move outside the supporting area and join RDA as a lead? And are RDA, MS and AT nominated for their work in a particular episode or for their overall work in a season? They're great and deserve to win whichever the case may be.

Have to agree, especially with Carter. She has had quite a few leading roles this year for example Grace, Chimera, possibly Death Knell. They are all prime examples of when she is the main focus of the episode. She should be in for Best Actress!

wondering, are the Saturn Awards actually televised anywhere? is it an International thing? coz i'd never heard of it until i read about Stargate being nominated for previous awards.

and about the nominations, i can't see how they can consider Michael as a lead and not Amanda considering he was missing for most of an entire season.

good luck to them anyhow - fingers crossed!!!

Why wasn't CJ or CN nominated for anything? CN was in the last half of season 6, and he should have been nominated. I was a bit miffed by AT's "supporting actress" nom. I still hope they win, tho! Go Stargate!

Congrats all round! I'm a bit disapointed about AT "supporting" nomination. Even without the fact of MS getting a best actor award, AT IS a leading lady on the show. Plus she has done a great job on ALL the new episodes were Sam Carter is the main focus. It's just not right if you ask me.

^^^^^^^^^^
I agree with that. Amanda really should be nominated for best actress instead of supporting actress. I hope she wins the saturn as Amanda is an amzing actress and deserves it more than any of the other actresses nominated. So all my support for Amanda.

Also Rick and Michael nominated in the same catorgory. I want Rick to win it as he is planning to shorten his appearence on stargate and he deserves it. Michael also deserves it because he has provided great entertainment coming back to stargate but im going for Rick.

Also Stargate will win best best syndicated best cable tv programme.

So good luck for the saturns. biggrin.gif

It's good to see Stargate SG-1 getting some more recognition finally. I don't really know much about the Saturn awards, but it's still a good thing biggrin.gif I really hope that it wins the best syndicated/cable TV series most of all as it would really help them gain a larger following.

As for Amanda Tapping being nominated a supporting actress and Michael Shanks being implied to have a lead role, well it might seem unfair but maybe it is something to do with how much they are being paid. I bet MS gets paid a lot more than AT. Also, I do think that MS is better known in the industry, but then again his character isn't more prominent in the series than AT's blink.gif

Yeah but Amanda hasnt taken a break from the show or missed out on practically a whole season like Michael Shanks. Thats why i reckon it should be Michael in the supporting catogory and Amanda in the main catogory.

Though I hate to be a sheep, I too agree that AT should have been also included in the leading role nominations.
Besides that, WAY TO GO!!!!

I think it probably has more to do with how they are billed in the credits. Since his return MS has been prominent at the end of the opening sequence with the signifier "and" attached to his name. I suspect his "lead" status was part of the deal to get him back on the show. But he's up against RDA and there is no question in my mind which is the better actor...and it's not MS.

While I agree that AT should be in the lead actress catagory, the producers might've thought she'd have a better chance of winning in the supporting catagory. Since this is an ensemble show and her name isn't 'above the credits' like RDA's, they probably had a bit more leeway in that. Depends who she'd be up against in the leading.

As far as MS and RDA...if the former has been nominated from season six, then I must assume that the voters are basing it on his performance in either Abyss or Full Circle...probably Abyss... unsure.gif Both of them gave solid performances, but I think RDA's had more depth to it, only because the character was going through more on a physical, emotional, and psychological level.

She's definately a lead actress, not supporting. General Hammond is a supporting role.
